Truckhenge

We had a fun and enlightening time at Truckhenge in Topeka, Kansas. Ron Lessman, the Truckhenge Man and creative artist, graciously welcomed us inside his and his wife’s home, a Quonset Hut, and around the intriguing and unique property filled with… well, you will see.

This is a further view of the Lessman’s home of Truckhenge. A lot of hard work and creativity went into this spacious home loft in the Quonset Hut with a wide open view of the property and pond. It is 8000 sq ft, heated concrete floor (overlaid beautiful, patterned wood floors in the home), 8000 ft of wire, and 75 plus breakers. It is amazing what Ron Lessman used to create this home from various means and sources. Oh, there is an elevator.

Lessman’s Farm Grassroots Art

At the Lessman Farm, Ron Lessman had something politically to say, and there began Truckhenge and the creation of other art works. There are stories and statements objectified throughout Lessman’s Farm of grassroots art. Ron turned to a creative way of art when he had been challenged by the city big brothers, and he bloomed in his artful statements throughout his historical four-generation owned farmland. To learn more about the Quonset House, Truckhenge and about Lessman’s history, visit their website, Lessman’s Farm.

Ron Lessman collected a lot of old to ancient animal bones and fossil rocks from the pond, and a pond well stocked with various fish.

At Lessman’s Farm, not only was there Truckhenge, Boathenge, a 30 acre pond, the Quonset Hut for their home, Grassroots art and sculptures, there were a variety of animals that were so peaceful. We so enjoyed our tour.
