Kansas Plains Horse

Kansas Plains Horse

Horses are always so friendly.  This one was way down by the water hole when I started taking pictures and then came right up to me so I could pet it.  I imagine the horse enjoys the company considering it was all alone out here in the middle of no where.

He certainly does look lonely. His coloring blends with the landscape, too!

He does blend in pretty good. Did you realize the furthest hill seen in this photo is somewhere between 20 to 30 miles away? You can see for miles and miles in the flint hills of Kansas.

20-30 miles away?? That is amazing!!

Looking at the colour of the grass, is there enough nourishment in it to feed a horse?

Good capture.

What a beauty. Some horses seem so much a part of the land it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. I hope he had some friends around somewhere!

Barbara we really enjoy the openness of Kansas, however it took a few years to grow on us.

YB these animals seem to do just fine on dried brown grass.

Linda there were about five horses out at this shoot, but still it appeared very lonesome.

Glad there were other horses nearby …
