Old Truck and Tires

Old Truck and Tires

Still searching for something different in my photography.  This is a crop from a large portrait style taken from a much further distance away.  The original photo I found very un-interesting and was not sure what I would do with it.  First I worked on detail and softening.  I tried digital painting but was not happy with the results.  I then worked on blurring the focus around the truck.  Still I was not satisfied.  So I took the photo and played with the darkness.  As I darkened it I felt an emotion of deep thought and I liked it.  Then I merged the darken image with the unfocused image to get what you see here.  For me this photo is no longer just an old truck and tires but instead a visible thought.

I’d love to see an exhibit of old pickups done in the style of Russian or Byzantine icons. After all, what’s a better icon of a certain time in American life? You even could re-do the typical gold halo a bit to make it look like a ribbed tire!

Truly, a great photo. I really like it.
