Cattle Header

Anna is driving, Moppet is sitting between us, and I’m peering out the passenger window as we head home from a photo shoot. Off in the distance is a herd of cattle and I point and shoot as the truck speeds along at 65mph. Observing the photo I notice what would actually make a great header for a cattle blog and crop it accordingly. Then I toss in a few effects to get what you see.

If I lived on a cattle ranch I would probably blog my experience with the herd. Each day I would record something be it the birth or slaughter of the cattle, the weather and its effects on the herd, the dealings with folks in connection with the care and auction of the animals, or simply a continuous story of the one which would never go to market for some silly stupid reason.

A ranch blog would be interesting to read. But I guess for a rancher it would only be recording “ordinary” daily events.

Saw a TV programme this week about David Bailey – big name in the 1960′s fashion photography scene. He said something interesting “when going to a new place, take as many photographs within the first two days of arrival, before everything starts to become familiar”.

I like the cattle shot.

That would make a great blog header, Preston! I’d read a blog like that!
