That’s a lovely shot, but sad that it’s abandoned though. I can imagine that someone used to enjoy looking out of that window.
Montucky, this house part was part of a big and productive farmstead at one time. There are many interesting outbuildings and situated by a creek, nice fields, and hills in the background. It looks like that sometime in the 1960s or 1970s, whoever lived there just disappeared and left everything. I have watched this place and photographed it throughout the years in its decay. The house is finally falling in on itself. Yes, it is sad that it’s abandoned.
The picture poses the question, what secrets lie behind the window?
I like the contrast between the reds & browns vs the blue & grey of the window.
I like the rich colors too – and that touch of red. I cannot imagine photographing that place without trotting off to the county courthouse to look up its history. That is why you are a productive photographer and I am an obsessed historian.
Hi YesBut. Yes, what secrets lie behind the window. There are many times when I see places like this that I wish I could go inside as a… “ghost”. LOL I’d love to just see. Thanks!
Hi Gerry. I used to investigate historically about places and people long ago. There is so much more I’d like to be able to photograph as to the ‘feel’ to reveal its story of places and things… that is my obsession.
Thanks Gerry!
