Evening Abandoned Stone House

I have viewed, explored, and photographed this old stone house for many years and watched it deteriorate throughout time. An abandoned piano sits in the front room nevermore a tune to play. I photographed the piano back in 2008 titled “Abandoned Piano Looking Out The Window” and featured in the slideshow: Kansas Photography Remembering 2008-Twelve. The house is too unsafe for a human to explore now and all that is alive there are the buzzards and critters. The land is farmed and the barn is kept repaired. Truly, once a beautiful and lively stone house and farmstead.

Preston featured a close-up view of What Remains of the back of the house in which had been the kitchen.

At Surface and Surface Photography Gallery, another view of the house and farmstead along the country road in the sunset: Evening Abandoned Stone House-One

The light breaking through the tree is absolutely wonderful.

Congratulations on this photograph.

Interesting that the house was left to rot as its value would have been worth more over time. The sun bursting through the trees really sets the tone of the darkened landscape surrounding the house. Visiting the same location over time is a great way to capture time.

I love your capture of the sun’s rays though the tree!

Yesbut, I thought the light breaking through the tree is beautiful too. Thank you!

Scott, about 20 years ago (my, how time flies) a new roof was installed on the house. From what I understood, there had been plans to renovate the house but then the plans and house were abandoned for some reason. I have photos of the inside of the house before it deteriorated completely. I do have places and scenes that I revisited repeatedly throughout the seasons and years. Thanks!

Montucky, thank you!
